Elsie Amelia Handshy, 93 of Pana died Saturday, December 15, 2012 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 19, 1919 in Oconee, IL, the daughter of Arthur & Amelia Price Pauley, deceased. Elsie was a Pana downtown sales clerk, and worked at Duez Shoe Store for 15 years. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church of Pana and a member of Assumption Coop.
Elsie Pauley and Glenn Handshy were united in marriage in 1939 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. R. J. Anderson presiding. He preceded her in death on February 8, 1972.
She is survived by her sons: Ron Handshy & wife Joanne, Sacramento, CA and Gary Handshy & wife Cheryl, San Jose, CA; grandchildren: Brad Handshy, Cheryl (John) Andrews, Tina Handshy, Tracey (Mike) Medlin; step grandchildren: Mike Piazza, Cheryl Piazza; great grandchildren: Nicole (Jeff) Keeny, Greg Andrews, Alex Medlin; step great grandchildren: Kylee Piazza, Joe Piazza and by her step sister: Ruth Vail, Pana.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Louis Pauley, Rex Pauley, Glen Pauley, Bill Pauley, Wilbur Pauley; and sisters: Rachel Lockwood and Ruby Abbott.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 19, 2012 in First Baptist Church of Pana at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Greg White officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home and Wednesday one hour prior to services at First Baptist Church.
